I realize that the 300+ strips are a bit much to digest in one sitting, and that people may want a "Story so far" to get them started, so here goes:

Preliminary
The main cast can be found here. I sugguest you go there first.

The story starts with the main cast (Captain Bell, Doc, Max, Kendra, Anne and Yin) as a terraform team on Cygma Tau. They've been there for a few years, and have been working to establish a colony for the Terran Empire.

Chapter 1: Goodbye Cygma Tau
In Chapter 1, Max discovers that the planet goes through some sort of cycle in which there are massive earthquakes and volcanic activity every 11 years. The team has less than 18 months to figure out an escape plan. Doc get his blue hairm, creates the homocidal mech Vox and begins his romantic affair with Kendra.

Doc also manages to figure out an escape plan. It seems the 11 year cycle is due to an small planet or moon whose orbit brings it very close to Cygma Tau. Using the gravity well, Doc plans to lauch the entire habitation dome into orbit. In orbit is the leftover hull of the ship that brought the team to Cygma Tau in the first place, which he plans to use to build a new ship.

Once the ship is built (dubbed the "Faraway Star") the team has to refuel, which leads them through some misadventures and puts them in the unwelcome position of robbing a mysterious Guar spy-satellite. The Gaur are an alien race currently at peace with Terra, but robbing a satellite is not exactly the best way to maintain friendly ties, especially when they get caught.

Chapter 2: War
In Chapter 2, the Faraway Star surrenders to a Gaur Captain they nickname "Steve", who is in the midst of commandeering the Faraway Star when a number of other Gaur ships appear, led by Steve's "parent". It seems Steve is really a member of the "Gaur-Ect", a subversive group within the Gaur Empire, and is attempting to further some sort of plot.

At the same time the Te'Nef, a race at war with the Gaur, appear, apparently as a result of Steve's summoning, AND a terran ship, the "Fizzing Bob" crashes into real space through a Te'Nef jump tunnel. The destruction of the Fizzing Bob's gravity drive within the collapsing jump tunnel causes a massive gravity swell, destroying every ship except Steve's scout ship (now minus Steve) and the Faraway Star (now with Steve and 2 survivors from the Fizzing Bob on board).

Steve begins to explain his plans for the Faraway Star and her crew, and we begin to see the workings of a briefly mentioned group called "The Way", who are betraying the Gaur to the Te'Nef for their own interests.

Now
So there we are. Somwhere in this puzzle there's "Boss" and "Poog", mercenary dealers responsible for the Fizzing Bob's last ill-fated cargo mission. There's Hall, another mercenary who was somehow in on the deal. There's Deg and Milo, the two survivors of the Fizzing Bob. There's The Way and two of it's members, Torris and his boss (so far only known as "m'Lord") and the mysterious planet "Ja", lost home of The Way. You'll have to continue reading to figure it all out.

Faraway Stars and all characters/concepts contained within are the intellectual property of Brian West aka Tirdun. All persons depicted within are unrelated to anyone else in the known universe, any similarities are unlikely and unintentional and so on unless being used in fair use/parody format. These pages are viewable on any browser on any platform capable of looking at a page 700 pixels wide with pictures in 256 colors, since that's how big the comic (and pretty much everything else) is. I happen to like Opera, but you're probably reading this at work on the Internet Explorer your IS/IT department slammed onto your poor machine without pity. I'm sorry. If you have a text browser or are stuck at 640x480, then your system just sucks too much for me to bother. We do have a privacy policy that completely fails to address your inner child issues.
